I looked and analysed the database that you gave the link. I have done similar projects.
I can not produce the similar of this project, but I can do a better one.
I am mostly experienced in database where there will be less data entry then the one that you gave the link.
IT is because I worked for Bechtel construction for about 8 years I did 3 projects with them. As there were generally lots of data entry mistake in the systems that I saw there, I was oriented to do database`s where there will be less data entry and more like data control. Which is I think the primordial, the vertebra of a company. Data operator generally has problems with the databases, because of the wrong data entries, and this is because a huge amount of data entry to do just blur the mind of the data operator.

The truth speaking is I didn`t prepared any specific database for a restaurant. I am expert in MS access,  I can provide the work that work. But I don`t recommend that you continue your work in ms excel. Because of the following:

I have been working in construction business at Bechtel Construction Co as Cost Engineer and programmer in the same time I worked for the Russia/Sakhalin project and Kazakstan Tengiz project. I had to deal with the cost of many different departments of the construction site.
During my experience I saw people working in excel and word for keeping their data and for making calculations. Unfortunately as these kind of programs are not intended to keep big records, there was all the time mistakes in the reports, or they were spending 1 week for getting a report that could be done in 10 minutes work.

I have designed many access databases for companies in different sector like construction, real estate, advertisement agency, furniture retailing. I ensure you will have lots of ease on using this program. And of course I will send you this program with oipen source code.

Among my experience : I did databases for logistics, purchasing warehousing, cost, finance, site construction , personnel and finally safety departments. Also I maintained all of these during 1.5 year. During all this time I learned that I can never say all database are the same. I did as freelance database for call lines helpdesk, document control database, advertising agency general database (including bid, accounting and customer address book).

So briefly I don`t recommend you continue your works in excel but get introduced to Microsoft Access. It will give you the same performance as excel and it will give you the accuracy that you require.  Microsoft access uses visual basic to accomplish the most complicated works. I suggest to do your works using that program.

I worked for Bechtel international in the construction projects of Tengiz and Sakhalin II for the total of 5 years. I have safety management certificate. In these projects I build safety databases using microsoft access and visual basic. I did database that was including site construction work permit, driver permits, safety training courses, workhours without lost time accidents, safety bonus for workers, lost time accident reporting etc.
I read your projects and I visited the sample website giving Safety management software details.

After visiting the website what I thought about your needs were as follows:

First of all your database should be able to integrate documents about safety. It may give to user accessibility to these documents, So it may have a Document control feature in it

The second important thing (I write the following according my construction site experience) about your database is that it should contain a data entry front end form. In these form the data operator should make the entry of the safety statistics about the site: workhours without lost time accidents, type of accidents, injury details, injury place, injury causing object or behaviour etc etc…This part will be only viewable by the data operator of each site.

The third one is the reports section , these reports should appear on screen in such a way that it can be downloaded and e-mailed. The reports will make statistics according the data entry done in each site. It will give you general statistics, statistics per site, it can have ratio for qualifying which site has best safety management , which site should need closer control on their safety management etc.

 

I think that all this can be done using Microsoft Access. IT is cheaper and it is possible to convert it to sql server easily, Also ASP programmers use Microsoft access to build up the database, The ASP is used only for security matter. But a program is a language only, ther is no significant difference of visual basic script and ASP because if in English you say “hello” you can say “bonjour” in French and it does the same thing. You can try to say it in Chinese but why? Say it in the language you know the best and which is the easiest one. So my suggestion is do it simple stupid. You will have more satisfaction.

So I suggest you to do this project using Microsoft Access and visual basic script.

- It will be for your company internal use for unlimited use, and for unlimited user.
- It will have open source code, this means whenever you may require to improve your database, any of your coder can go in the database and make the changes you require.
- Also this database will be your property, I will produce it only for you.
- I will be keeping all your company commercial information as commercial secret.

After you give me more project details, and then select me as coder I will be preparing a prototype for you in 10 days time. After your revisions on this prototype and then notifying me of the additional reports/forms you may want, or change some reports and forms, I will send the second database which will be the program ready to run. On your approval I will prepare the database by making the final touch on it, and finalize it.

For making this planning running most closely the same in practice, I may require absolutely all your requests as reports content, type of data to enter. Also I may ask your work flowchart so as to understand the steps of the work, and to make the maximum automation in your work process.

Technical details of the database:

For the installation of the software; as the database will be an access database it`s installation is easy. It takes no more then 5 minutes. It can be done by you easily.


The program I will design will have it`s backend on the server uif you have any. So the whole data entered will be stored on your server.

The frontend will be placed on the user`s computer, Id Est on the local hard drive of each user. The frontend is just incorporating links to tables on the server, the VBA source codes, the macros, the reports and the forms.

The main reason I do this is because the frontend is much more heavier then the backend, and when you run it it requires more space in memory of the computer. By placing it on the user`s computer I avoid server`s memory being overloaded.

This system will open you the way to convert in the future, this database to sql server easily.

Also there will be other big advantage of this system. While the system will be running, you may need an additional report, or a minimal change on the frontend. Then you may just need to notify me for the changes to be done, I`ll prepare this changes or addtional reports. AFter all will be finished you will just delete the old frontend and copy paste the new frontend on the user computer.
During the laps of time from your request of frontend change and the installation of the new one there will not be any stop in the daily data entries.

If yes please provide the content for the first and the second database. The price I gave you is for one database only. You are welcome, and thank you for your kind interest on my services. As I have choosed free membership to Rentacoder.com, so I don`t get the project`s info quickly. Financially this was looking best for me. Unfortunately I know that this has many communication disadvantages

That is why Windows 98 is now Windows XP, who would continue using today windows 98?
